FACT SHEET - BORNEO RAINFOREST LODGE, DANUM VALLEY

Borneo Rainforest Lodge is one of the region’s finest facilities making exploration of the Borneo jungle in eastern Malaysia not only easily accessible but a genuine pleasure. Here you will discover and learn of the rainforest’s flora and fauna. The tour guided is by naturalists and the adventure is carefully crafted with many hands on experience to complement the natural interpretation.

Borneo Rainforest Lodge, located in a magnificent jungle setting beside the Danum River, is in the midst of the Danum Valley Conservation Area, Sabah’s largest protected area of lowland dipterocarp forest. All the 43 800 hectares are managed by Sabah Foundation for the purposes of conservation, research, education and training.

Growing in this Borneo Eden is the world’s largest variety of plant life. The dipterocarp forest has over 200 species of trees per hectare, some of which are the oldest and tallest (and most diverse) on the planet.

The animal wildlife is equally wondrous. Contained in the pristine jungle are some of Malaysia’s most exciting animals the rare Sumatran Rhino, Proboscis Monkeys, Orang Utans, Asia Elephants, 124 species of mammals, 72 reptiles, 56 amphibians and over 275 species of birds.

The Borneo Rainforest Lodge was established so that tourist benefit from the scholarly works carried out at the Danum Valley Field Centre – one of the world’s foremost tropical rainforest research and environmental education establishment in South East Asia.
