Segama Trail

The trail is about 2.7 Km long that runs parallel with the Danum River.  It begins at the eastern end of the Danum Bridge.  Upon reaching the junction on the left, trail along the downstream of the Danum River, you will reach the Raleigh Bridge that leads you to the East Trail.

You will notice large birds such as Rhinoceros Hornbills, Imperial Pigeon and other fruit-eating birds such as Barbet, Leaf-Bird and Sun Birds along the fig trees during fruiting season.  Mammals such as Long Tail Macaque, Orang Utan, Bearded Pig and Mouse Deer can sometime be seen searching for food among the fig trees.

This trail was originally adopted by Borneo Rainforest Lodge as part of the forest trail system.  These larger animals such as Pigmy Elephant or Sambar deer as well as the herd of elephants that live between the Danum and Segama River have used it.
